Dec 10 2017

Dubai is all set to host best young athletes from around the world in February next year for The World School Games 2018. The international multi-sport event is expected to attract diverse talents from primary school students.

The World School Games is a three-day international sports event staged in Dubai and attended by some of the most prestigious International schools across the globe. A minimum of 16 students (8 boys and 8 girls) from each school will take part in swimming, athletics and football in a bid to accrue the most points and be crowned World Champions.

Despite 2018 being the inaugural year, the competition has instantaneously captured the imaginations of schools from far and wide. Schools from Spain, Greece, Kazakhstan, Nigeria and Uganda have registered to enter The Games, staged at Dubai's premier sports venue - Dubai Sports City. The first secondary edition is scheduled to take place in Dubai in February 2019. James Hair, World School Games board member commented, “Sport is an important part of Dubai’s modern identity, and this city presents the perfect destination to host this global event. The weather conditions will be perfect in February while the infrastructure including sports venues, hotels, tourist attractions and amenities represent an international benchmark,” said Andrew Cook, Director at Gulf Youth Sport, the official media partner of The World School Games 2018. “We are looking forward to covering all the action from The Games and will be live streaming selected events so that families across the world can tune in and support,” he added.
